Η Σουηδική psych και post-punk μπάντα Știu Nu Știu υπογράφει με την Heavy Psych Sounds την κυκλοφορία του τέταρτου στούντιο άλμπουμ της με τίτλο "New Sun" την 1η Ιουλίου. Ακούστε το νέο πυρακτωμένο single τους «Transcend».

«Το Transcend είναι ένα ταξίδι από την αρχή μέχρι το τέλος, που ανθίζει κομψά σε ένα υπέροχο καλειδοσκόπιο, απεικονίζοντας αποχρώσεις psych, doom, και post-punk που συνενώνονται σε αυτό το παράξενο, αλλά υπέροχο ηχητικό κατασκεύσμα» περιγράφουν οι συντάκτες της Everything Is Noise.

Η ομορφιά και η ασχήμια πρέπει να συνυπάρχουν. Οι μελωδίες πρέπει να καταστρέφονται από το παραμορφωμένο χάος. Οι μελωδίες χρειάζονται θόρυβο και ο θόρυβος πρέπει να δώσει τη θέση του στη δομή και στο στόχο. Το επερχόμενο νέο άλμπουμ του Ştiu Nu Ştiu "New Sun" γεννήθηκε αμέσως μετά την κυκλοφορία του τρίτου άλμπουμ "Sick Sad Love" (Νοέμβριος 2019). «Μουσικά σκάβουμε βαθύτερα στο έδαφος στο οποίο στεκόμαστε και τα πράγματα πάνε σε πολλές διαφορετικές κατευθύνσεις, όπως σε όλα τα άλμπουμ μας» λέει το συγκρότημα. Η τραγουδίστρια Jessica Mengarelli προσθέτει: «Οι στίχοι πηγάζουν από μια αίσθηση απελπισίας και οξύτητας. Είναι η έκφραση του πώς νιώθεις να σε παρασύρει η ανησυχία, να κινείσαι μεταξύ ευφορίας και παραίτησης, να ποθείς την παρουσία, να εγκαταλείπεις την αδιαφορία, αισθανόμενος παγιδευμένος από την θηλιά παλιών εμπειριών. Προσπαθούν να ερμηνεύσουν τους διαφορετικούς τρόπους του να αντιμετωπίζεις τέτοια συναισθήματα».

Το "New Sun" ηχογραφήθηκε από το συγκρότημα στο δικό του στούντιο, Shadow Kingdom, και η μίξη έγινε από τον ντράμερ Christian Augustin. Η επεξεργασία του έγινε από τον -επί χρόνια- συνεργάτη τους, Magnus Lindberg. Το artwork δημιουργήσε o μπασίστας Kalle Mattsson.

Οι Ştiu Nu Ştiu δημιουργήθηκαν το φθινόπωρο του 2012, όταν ο Kalle Mattsson επέστρεψε στη Στοκχόλμη, όπως και ο πρώην συνεργάτης του στο συγκρότημα Caterpillar Ghost, Martin Sandström, μετά από σχεδόν μια ολόκληρη δεκαετία στο Άμστερνταμ. Και οι δύο μεγάλωσαν στην Ουψάλα, βόρεια της Στοκχόλμης και τα τέσσερα πρώτα μέλη του group ήταν όλοι συντοπίτες του, που τότε ζούσαν στη Στοκχόλμη. Ο Sandström είχε περάσει το χρόνο του φτιάχνοντας άλμπουμ και περιοδεύοντας στην Ευρώπη ως κιθαρίστας και συν-τραγουδοποιός στο λεγόμενο post-rock συγκρότημα Jeniferever. Ο δε Mattsson είχε αφιερώθεί στο να δημιουργεί έργα τέχνης για εξώφυλλα δίσκων και να παίζει μπάσο με διάφορα συγκροτήματα στη σκηνή του Άμστερνταμ. Το 2022 η μπάντα έχει ήδη περάσει από πολλές αλλαγές αλλά ο Kalle και ο Martin παραμένουν πάντα σταθερα μέλη. Το τέταρτο άλμπουμ τους "New Sun" είναι επιτέλους έτοιμο να κυκλοφορήσει στο Heavy Psych Sounds.

Swedish psych and post-punk unit Știu Nu Știu sign to Heavy Psych Sounds for the release of their fourth studio album "New Sun" on July 1st. Listen to their incandescent new single "Transcend" exclusively on Everything Is Noise!

Beauty and ugliness need to co-exist. Melodies need to be destroyed by distorted mayhem. Melodies need noise, and noise needs to give way to structure and focus. Ştiu Nu Ştiu's upcoming new album "New Sun" was born right after the release of the third album "Sick Sad Love" (November 2019). Says the band: "Musically we dig deeper into the ground on which we are standing & things go in a few different directions as on all our albums." Vocalist Jessica Mengarelli adds: ”The lyrics spring from a sense of desperation and acuteness, they are an expression of how it feels to be driven by restlessness, to be flung between euphoria and resignation, to crave presence, to give up to indifference, to feel trapped in the grip of old experiences. They try to process the different ways I've been dealing with those emotions.”

"New Sun" was recorded by the band in their own Shadow Kingdom studio and mixed by drummer Christian Augustin. It was mastered by long-time collaborator Magnus Lindberg. Its artwork was created by bassist Kalle Mattsson.

Ştiu Nu Ştiu started in the autumn of 2012, when Kalle Mattsson moved back to Stockholm city as his former Caterpillar Ghost bandmate, Martin Sandström, after almost a full decade in Amsterdam. They both grew up in Uppsala just north of Stockholm and the first four members were all from there but by the time this band started they all lived in Stockholm. Sandström had spent his time making albums and touring Europe as guitarist and co-songwriter in the so-called post-rock band Jeniferever. Mattsson had spent his time making artworks for record covers and playing bass with various bands in the Amsterdam scene. In 2022 the line-up has gone through many changes but Kalle and Martin remain. Their fourth album "New Sun" is finally ready to be released on Heavy Psych Sounds.
